April 4th -- 8:00PM Eastern
Mike Mantey and Del Mullen
Seminar in the Steel Guitar Chat Room

Mike and Del have graciously agreed to host a question and answer seminar in the Steel Guitar Chat Room to discuss the innovative new G2 Mullen Pedal Steel Guitar. Lots of questions have been asked about the design and reasoning behind this new innovative design. Well, now is the time to join in on the fun and have your questions answered by the builders themselves. This session will be open to the public 1 hour prior to the 8:00PM Eastern start time. Guests will be able to log in with their own name and simply use "Guest" as their password. Stop by the Steel Guitar Chat Room and enjoy the fun. See you all there.

Those signing in as Guest will be required to download a small software package to install the ivocalize software on their computer. This will allow you to connect to the server and use the resources of the room.
You can sign in here http://steelguitars.ivocalize.net

Don-Thanks for the heads up on Mike and the Mullen on the chat room. I hope to listen in on that.
The chat room is great where the steelers can actually talk to each other....al.SmileSmile

First off thanks Don, for getting this announcement out for us. I have been busier than a one arm paper hanger with so many things coming up ahead. The reason we have decided to make this "open to the public" is because so many folks that I have talked with are really interested in the "new" things that the Mullen Guitar Company has done lately with respect to the G2 and so I asked Del and Mike if they would come in and simply answer the questions everyone has and actually perform live so that we all can hear. I also know that there are so many more folks other than the members of the Steel Guitar Chat Room that are interested in this new and innovative steel guitar, so we thought it would be good to bite the bullet on the costs and allow the outside public in on the event. We have many new events that are already planned and we still play live in the room and trade licks and chat theory...technique...brands of guitars...and much more on a daily basis. We would like to always include the outside public but simple can not do it all the time. In this case we have made an exception and I would urge all of you interested to take advantage of this event opening.
Also let me just clear up any misunderstanding there may be with restpect to the Steel Guitar Chat Room. Several years ago, Boo Miller came to me with an idea and had a friend in Texas that offered to set up a room for Steel Players "if we would run it". I thought it would be a neat idea for a couple steel players to get together and chew the fat so to speak. So Boo and I got it going. Boo got busy with playing engagements but still is a life member and comes in the room whenever possible. Well the room started getting more folks in it and we felt that we could no longer serve them where we were at and in the best interest of those members we incurred the start up costs (Don Poland and myself) and moved our room to a new location. Since that time we have grown in leaps and bounds and it is because of the great events we have as well as a friendship and fellowship that I can honostly say I am extremely proud of. No Profanity (not tolerated)No bad attitudes or politics...just steel guitar and fun. Not long ago the gentleman in Texas opened "another" chat site for a man and his wife and they have posted many times here on the Steel Guitar Forum making the statement that they are the "original" steel guitar chat room. Simply put...that is not the truth. I started this chat room and together with Don Poland and our moderators we maintain it and have done so since it's inception. While our membership numbers as well as the quality of our members speak for themselves...Those are the facts. Anyone who would like to know more about us can simply e-mail us at admin@steelguitarchatroom.com or visit our website at www.steelguitarchatroom.com
The rules for membership are as simply as I have stated above. Who would want to come to a place where there is backbiting and poor behavior. We believe when you come to our website it is to have a good time with folks you like to hang around with and have something in common with. If this is something you like then we invite you. We have discussion in the room about all products, recordings, styles, all upcoming steel events whether or not it is a SGCR sponsored event and we try to stay on top of the latest happenings in the steel guitar world. So, with that said, we look forward to having this session Wednesday night and we will try to help everyone we can. We will open the site to the public one hour prior to the session time to allow you time to get settled in. I would urge you to get there early enough to get things set up because we plan on having a crowd and we want this to be a pleasant time for all.

Our Best To You Till Then,

Ray Walker and Don Poland and The Staff

Again I want to remind you that if you are not a member of the Steel Guitar Chat Room...you should get there about an hour early so that if you have problems getting in we can help you and you will not miss the show. Once the show starts we will do our best but we always seem to be overly busy during these times. I have talk to and received many e-mails of folks who are going to be there and I am looking forward to seeing you all.

Well Well Well.... what an interesting discussion we had with Del Mullen and Mike Mantey last night. If you missed it you missed some really great information. The new technologies that are going into this New Mullen G2 are not only innovative but they are all geared to a smoother playing and better sounding guitar. I was genuinely impressed with the precision work in the changer not to mention the rest of the guitar. Del I want to thank you for demonstating the guitar. Not only was your playing fantastic, but the tone of that New G2 was something I really liked to hear in a steel guitar.I know everyone in attendance was able to see what I saw and hear what I heard and I know they were impressed as well. It was a great night overall with a lot of visitors in the room. Some have already become members and hey... it's hard not to once you see what we do there. Stay tuned for more events and some really one of a kind events that we have in the works.

God bless you all,

On behalf of Del and I, we would like to say thank you as well. We enjoyed it and had some great company in the room that night. It was our goal to get the G2 heard a little bit, and hopefully it sounded good through the computers. Anyhow look for one at a show near you.

Thank You all, the steel guitar community is some of the best people you will ever meet.

First of all let me give a big hand to Del and Mike for doing such a great job. They are doing a great job by providing us players with all our needs. They build the best of steel guitars and give great service.
But however...it hurts me a lot when I see Mr.Walker's reply. There is no doubt that Mr.Walker did a lot of good for the steel guitar community and he still does. And I applaud him for that.Mr.Walker and the moderators do a great job in their steel guitar room.

It surprises me that Mr.Walker tells his story like this.
I know that Boo Miller started all this together with the "gentleman" from texas. And that all this was running before "this gentleman and his wife" came in the picture.
But however...Mr.Walker and moderators moved to another provider and started their own steel guitar chat room. And like I said...I applaud them for giving a warm heart towards our community.
We took over the space that he left behind. The "gentleman" from texas never had any doubt in us succeeding in where numerous people left of.And that is to provide people with a place that they can call home.Free of charge.
A place where musicians can meet and talk about their dreams, music, wishes and experience.
It still is the "Original Steel Guitar room"....it is the place where it all started.....years ago.Mr.Walker has his story about this all and I have mine.
I am not going to argue about who is right and who is wrong. It is not relevant.Nor will it ever be.All we want to do is to provide Steel players with useful information.Play steel guitar music and talk about all aspects.
And I think that Mr.Walker has the same intentions.I think that there is room enough on the WWW for 2 steel guitar rooms.
It's the people's choice whether they want to pay for a room or not.Our room does not tolerate Profanity either. We don't think that that belongs in our society. All we try is to serve our community in the best of ways.

Happy Easter

Ron
