Any Jon Rauhouse fans out there?

I saw him on Austin City Limits with Neko Case.

He played pedal steel, Weissenborn, electric guitar and banjo. I loved all of his playing. Very supportive of the songs and his soloing was superb on pedal (which he didn't do a lot of pedaling on btw). He plays steel with overdrive.

Neko Case, who I hadn't heard before, really knocked me out too. What a voice! I liked her material too.

Something different, something new. If you like Americana/roots/alt-country this is worth looking into.

Count me as a fan of Jon Rauhouse , I have both of his excellent CD's which feature very tasty material and playing by him and the other musicians. If you enjoy Neko Case you should check out the singer Kelly Hogan who sang backup for Neko on Austin City Limits. Her voice is simply beautiful IMHO although she doesn't record a whole lot unforrtunately. She sings the songs Smoke Rings and Acccentuate The Positive on Jon's solo Cd's .

Jon is a great player who started his playing career in my hometown of Tempe AZ. A Banjo player of considerable talent, he played PSG for a band called The Grievous Angels, after which he allied with Bloodshot Records, an insurgent country label oput of Chicago. He has 2 solo CD's which are highly recommended as well as having played on a large number of records for others. I'll be looking forward to seeing him with Neko, she is one of my faves.

I met him last summer in Chicago for the Exotica 2005 event at Fitzgerald's in Berwyn. Great player, really nice feel and tone and one heckuva nice cat, too. He was playing with a guy who was playing guitar rhythm.

It was probably my personal favorite act that day at Exotica, although there were some GREAT surf bands that I really enjoyed, too!

Count me in as a fan.

I've known Jon for many years. He played b*njo, and pedal steel on Ignitors second record "Speedway Sounds" before he moved from Tempe. Working with him in the studio was an absolute blast, he just has such a great feel for the songs and a great touch. We did a number of shows with him and some road dates. I'm a fan and particularly like his first CD. Actually, cherry picking cuts from both of his Steel Guitar discs makes for a really nice one. Both these CDs are available for downloading on eMusic. I have not heard his disc "Jon Rauhouse's Hawaiian Guitar Expedition"
