Danny,

Beautiful old axe. I bought one like it (brand new) in Louisville in the late 40's or early 50's. I got a complete new rig: console grande, big Gibson amp, foot pedal, etc -- paid about $1,800 for the complete rig. I took it home to Mississippi with me, where one of my country uncles heard me play it. He remarked, "I'd give a hundred dollars just to have one of them and know how to play it."

Hey Roy
Funny you said that, Bobbe wanted to give me a hundred dollars for mine. It would take at least two. LOL Laughing
Being from Louisville where did you buy it.
Danny

Danny,

I'll give you $200 for it any day of the week.

I bought the rig at Durlauf's Music in Louisville. At that time, the store was still on 5th Street.

Check your email.

Roy.

P.S. Hi Bobbe -- sorry about hijacking this thread. See you in St. Louis. Your friend and fan, Roy.

That is just beautiful, Danny. I now have two Console Grande D8's, but they both look their age.

I love the sound of the P90 pickups on this instrument and the wider string spacing makes these much easier to play than my old Fenders (IMO).

I think Don Helms really knew what he was doing when he traded his Fender for one of these Smile
