Thanks Bobby. Your a gentleman. Others weren't. I answered the ad before others and we have always here on the forum given the person who makes the first response on the forum to an ad first in line to complete the purchase with the seller if the seller choses to do so. Some folks just don't think anything about sleazing in and trying to cut off someone else.
You folks know who you are.

Hey Bill

Post by David Fields »

I was the first to reply, yes.

Also Bill, I did get through to that number. His name was Bob, I believe? He just said that he would get back to me in the next few days when he decided what to do with the steel pedal.

Jerry, any help from you would be greatly appreciated. I am not in this to make ANY profit. I just want an inexpensive steel to start on. I have the bug SO BAD I can't stand it. I just believe at that price I can't go wrong even with only one knee lever.

Bill, I may be a bit confused. It seems that you replied here on the forum first, but I might have called first. If you were the first here, then please accept my apology. I can wait a bit longer.

David. Look at my first post and look at the time it was posted. Look at the original post from Jerry and then you will see what I am talking about. I sent a PM to Jerry and he replied. Did you?? Then everyone else starts cutting in line and trying to snake the guitar causing an inconsiderate mess for all.

I certainly would not do that to someone else here on the forum who had been the first to respond to an ad. That person is considered the first in line to try to complete the deal if the seller deems it so to accept the first to inquire.

You need a guitar, I hope you get it. That would be more important to me than just getting a good deal.

Don't do it. I would rather you get it. Next time just read the times on the posts and try to keep things uncomplicated.

Others who have called will probably not be as helpful in hoping you get a shot at a guitar to start on.

Doing the right thing Bill

Post by David Fields »

Bill:
I guess I got confused when you sent an email to Jerry, and he put up the number to call. I was thinking that if you were the one who was interested then he would have emailed you back with the phone number instead of posting it here. I was thinking that he was putting it up for anyone to call. When I called and the man (Bob) answered and didn't say that anyone else had called I assumed (wrongly) that you hadn't checked on it.
Any way you look at it Bill, I do want to do the right thing here. I haven't been a memeber here very long (a little over a month) and everyone here has been super with infomation and just plain good help.
Bill, I can wait. It is no problem. I was wanting one with more knee levers anyway. The only reason I jumped on it so quick was because of the price. The money thing is a BIG thing with me right now. I figured that I might could see with this Maverick if I even would take time to learn the steel.
Again, please accept my apology.

No problem. Once again I hope you get this.

If you look at Jerrys ad you will see that his email address is not listed. That means that the only way that you can contact him is via PM (private mail) through the forum. He chose to contact me through the forum rather than my email which was his choice and not mine. That put the phone number out there for the rest of the guys who have no ethics to call. You will also notice that his post with the phone number begins with MY name, not everbody elses.

Again, I appreciate where you are coming from on this, but I would rather YOU have a shot at the guitar. The price is great for a starter guitar. I was just going to use it for another tuning set up. I can get something else.

Hey David & Bill,
I'm a little scared to get mixed up in this, but I have a fairly nice Maverick I no longer use. I'll have to get $450.00 for it. That would include the bar, volumn pedal, 2 cords and shipping up to $50.00.
I'm planning to list it on "The Forum" when I get time. It just hasn't made it to the top of my list of things to do.If either of you are interested let me know.Take care.

WOW, Here is the story, The guy that has the steel for sale called me to see about getting into a better steel,he said he had a Mavrick and asked me if I knew anyone looking for one,so I told him I would post it on the forum.I check the post and saw bill was looking, at the time he was the only post so I put the phone number on( with his permission) so he could talk to the person wanting to buy it. I haven't been on line for awhile. But I see some concern about the post. I,m know the gentelmen and he is a good guy not out to do any wrong. And buy the way, thats a steal on that steel. Jerry

Thanks Jerry. It is a good price and I appreciate you setting things straight. If the fellow still has the steel and still wants to sell it for the $250 then I would like for him to sell it to David Fields who needs a steel. He does not have one and this would be at least a start for a price that anyone could afford.

If you can work this out with your friend then this will be just fine with me. I will gladly give up my slot to David. Consider it done and tell your friend it will be going to someone to begin his steel guitar adventure on. It may give him some incentive to go through with the deal.

Its good to see this kind of outcome to an issue here. I have also encountered similar problems on the forum forsale ads. Can be confusing to say the least. Esp. when the first responder does not know for sure if they want it? Flip a coin??????????

Bob, that was nice of you to step in to help a friend, did one of the two guys take advantage of the deal you offered?
Is that a single knee and three floor?
I may be interested.

When you guys get done passing that guitar back and forth, and if nobody wants it in the end, I might be interested if I am not to old and feeble to play it by then.
