Just purchased 2 Carter Starter pedal steel guitars for my grandson Carlton and I, now I have a legitimate excuse to start a steel guitar club in the Kansas City area. So I am going to start calling on some local KC players to help me with both endeavors, learning to play this guitar and help establish a steel guitar club in the KC area. Anyone interested please contact me at kburford1@hotmail.com. Also, for all of you that have experence in setting up a club I would appreciate knowing how you went about it. I want it to be just like everything else I am involved with, NON-PROFIT, only this time by design. |

Kenny, I wish you luck with your steel guitar group and the youngins'.
I enjoyed seeing you at St. Louis last year and hope to see you again soon. Our show was cancelled due to weather this year, maybe next year we'll see you. Take care and good luck.

Roger thanks, I am really looking forward to sharing this with my grandson(s). They are 13 and 12, which can be an akward age and I want to be part of their lifes, plus both of them are country music fans. I am going to start my oldest grandson on lessons and if the younger one shows an interest I will get the second one started too. They are both in school band and already wanting to play a second instrument there, plus the oldest has an interest in playing bluegrass fiddle. Needless to say having grandchildren that have an interest in music is a blessing for me.
I regret that due severe weather the this year's SEISGS had to canceled, but if all possible I plan on being at the show next with either one or both of my grandsons. I had great time last year and I look forward to hearing you and all of the other great talent I heard on last year's show again. I am planning on trying to make the Quad Cities Show, are you going to be there? |

Kenny,
I wish you success in starting your club. I am chaplain of our Ozark Steel Guitar Club and we always have a great time at all of our meetings. Our president is Hank Ruf. Our club started about 14 years ago by 4 of the Branson steel players, Terry Bethel, Dave Musgrave, Roger Blevins, and Tom Brumley. Ray Qualls has started 2 clubs and both of them are doing great. That's the Siloam Springs Steel Guitar Club in Arkansas and the Kansas Steel Guitar Club in Baxter Springs, KS. I'm sure he could give you some advice. Keep us posted here on the Forum how you and your grandson are doing in this new endeavor of learning to play the steel! |
