How many of you have played non-electric (obviously !) steel with nylon strings ?

A few years ago I put a riser nut on an old classical guitar, raised the bridge, tuned it to C6 tuning, and I often use it on my recordings when I want a soft sound.

Interesting! I play nylon string acoustic guitar quite a bit with my band, I'd have thought that the nylon strings don't sustain enough for playing with a slide or steel - gotta try that myself.

If Willie Nelson can do it, why not a steel player?

In one of my classes at Berklee, a girl had a small harp with her. I asked her to show it to the class. It was a half size electric harp she needed for and ensemble. I had just had my Lap Steel Lab before this so I had my picks and bar with me.
I laid the harp down on the table, plugged it into and amp and played slide on it! A very cool sound I must say because of the gut strings. A new sound someone should look into if they want something unusual.

Surprisingly not. Nylon strings have plenty of volume and quite a lot of sustain.

One of the most wicked tones I ever heard was a weissenborn with nylon strings.
