I could never give a straightforward answer to "which is your favorite amp?" without specifying what application one was talking about.
But since you asked about pedal steel and guitar - I really like the NV 112 with a Steel Guitar Black Box in front if all I need is good clean tones. If I need to get more Fenderish, I add a Pod after the SGBB and use one of those emulations.
Of course, just for pure blues, classic rock'n'roll, rockabilly, or country guitar with a Strat or Tele, there's nothing like an old Fender Deluxe or Vibrolux Reverb. Or how about a nice Plexi or JCM 800 Marshall for hard rock and metal?
How about a Twin Reverb or Dual Showman Reverb for jazz guitar or pedal steel? But every time I pull them out for blues, rockabilly, or country guitar, I get the evil eye - they are pretty loud and clean for that type of guitar unless it's a large stage.
And of course, I always have a soft spot for a nice old Magnatone 260 or 280 and a big old Gretsch guitar. I could fill my house up with this stuff and still want more, so I gave up trying.  |

Fender Steel King, PV Nashville 400's with the mods installed,
any Evans amp. I am talking for steel, for standard guitar I still like the Fender Twin Reverb best.

| All the years I doubled on psg and Les Paul, I thought my Vegas 400 was perfect. Two separate channels, and sounded great. Now I have a Steel King in my house, but I've been using a N112. Sounds good and I can still carry it. |

For guitar & steel I use a 65 Fender Super re-issue 65 lbs. but the tone is very good .I also use a tech 21 trademark 60 1-12- 36 lbs & power engine 30 lbs. 60 watts &1-12 for 120 watts total it is made by sans amp & can be as clean or dirty as you want durable & portable & the sound is the same regardless of volume, with every type of output imagineable no tremolo though,Mine got rained on & they fixed it for free the V.P's brother is a steeler Great outfit. The headphone jack can be helpful for silent practice

Sunn, Musicman, and my fave, the Guild Thunderbass. I need to sell everything but the guild...i dont really have a steel amp yet but when I do get one i just want it to be lightweight and small. I dunno....If i never see another full stack it will be too soon. |

I've been using a 71 Deluxe Reverb...
On 3 & 1/2
I know - crappy for pedal steel
but it sounds right for Classic County in the rooms we're ply'n
...I mean it sounds GREAT

I had an 80's Peavey 160W "Renown" (2x12) that I really liked. I had a friend who's an electronics guru put an LED in the footswitch to help keep track of what channel I was using at any time and also install "vibrato" (with speed and intensity). It was a great "all around" amp, plenty clean and LOUD, and I wish I haden't lost it in a pawn shop! It was "somewhat" light to pack around....(At least lighter than a Session or Nashville!)

my cloned bassman (left) and my real bassman (right). guitar, harp, steel. just fine for em all! (Of course, we play roots country/western swing and dablle in Hawaiian)
by no means budget amps however.
probably wouldn't work as nice for modern tones. |

Very cool Dave. Let's not forget that "Together Again" was recorded on one of those, stock with the 10" speakers. Not too shabby of a classic steel tone I'd say. It wasn't until the next year that Leo modded Brumley's amp to replace the 4-10's with a single JBL D130, and also pull the tweed off and put black tolex on it instead.
Personally, my favorite amp may have to by my '68 Deluxe Reverb with a JBL D120 in it. Not real loud, but real toneful. I've actually filled a small bar with it on steel before. That sweet 6V6 dirt it made was pretty usable for the stuff we were playing. The JBL makes that Deluxe way, way louder than the stock speakers. Then for real stage volume, it's pretty hard to beat (IMHO) a good healthy Twin Reverb (or Vibrosonic) with a D130 (or K130) in it. A Twin Reverb with a pair of D120's also sounds super fantastic (Lloyd/Charlie at Panther Hall), but my spine won't give me permission to lift one anymore.

| My favorite is a FSK with a 1501 BW speaker. I also like the 6-14 E Webb amp. Also have a new NV-1000 but it's not even close to FSK with the 1501. On the FSK, highs are crisp and clean and the low end just keeping on sustaining for as long I want to hold a chord, especially on the C6th neck w/8th pedal dropping Low C to A. |

I ran across a Fender 112 Deluxe few months back and its a super amp for a Steel,You can shape the tone anyway you like. My Favorite amp was a 52 Fender Deluxe I used when I was playing for a living,wish I still had it, Just guitar footpedal amp.Now I Have a Session's 500 (super amp)Old Fender Pro-Reverb,(beauitful tone JBL130 D) a rack system with 2 12" Fender Twin speakers,Stereo amp 135 watts per Ch., Pod xt, Lexicon,But am using the Fender 112 Pre-amp into the Lexicon, Nice, Schematic shows the 112 at 63 watts under test conditions.

Small room.... 64 Deluxe Reverb with a Tone Tubby.....or a big venue with really great sound, same thing with a mic on it.

For the past several years my favorite Amplifier has been a ’65 Re-Issue Fender Twin~Reverb Custom™ 15”, but; recently I purchased (2) Peavey Nashville 112's! Now, I no longer have a “Favorite Amplifier”, because; I like one as much as the other, where sound/tone is the issue! Unfortunately, I can carry two 112's, but; I can't carry one Twin! Maybe if I could I'd use (3)-Amps.! That would be different¡ Everyone is trying to do something different nowadays! Back in the Mid-’80's I used (2) Peavey Stereo~Chorus amps. together! That was different too! I had a choice of either (2), (3) or (4) Amps. while working on the job, w/o pulling any plugs at all! Everything was right there at hand at all times, although the total~wattage did change with each choice!

Normally I play through a Boss GT-6 and a TL Audio 5050 Ivory series comp/pre-amp directly in the board in my home studio.
Recently I took my old early silverface Deluxe Reverb to a small release-party gig, and was amazed how great especially the channel without the FX sounded, with nothing else than just the volume pedal. Took a couple of bars to adjust, but it sounded gorgeous from there. Apart form that, this thing is incredib'ly loud in small settings.
