This has probably been discussed before....

Ricky BD6- Bakelite guitar, I'm worried about string tension. I play a metal bodied rick and various wood bodied fenders also, and like the feel of a decent amount of string tension. I recently strung up my rick with a new set, but I always use lighter gauges in fear of busting it... Should I worry? I don't want to go overboard with huge strings, but I like a bit more tension...I like the feel of the metal bodied one with heavier strings, but like the tone of the BD6...

my gauges are:

for BD6:
32-24-22-18-14-11
E-G-A-C-E-G

On my metal rick I use:
38-30-24-20P-15-12
E-G-A-C-E-G

Thanks!

I use:

E = 0.017
C = 0.018
A - 0.020 P
G = 0.022 P
E = 0.032 FW
C# = 0.038 FW

I did some calculations with an online tension calculator (estimates based on "generic strings")... the results are here:

Scroll down to string tensions ...

Hope that helps.
