Just heard this on the radio today. Not your typical Toby Keith song. It's a real pretty ballad with lots of great sounding steel. The steel tone is gorgeous especially in the beginning where only piano and steel back up Toby's vocal. Would love to know what effects/equipment were used to get this sound. Anyone know who the steeler is on this track?

Dan plays a ShoBud through a Fender amp. I have recorded him using either a Professional D10 or a LDG through Fender Twins and tweed Deluxes... That is pretty much Dan's sound you are hearing ...He did play on that record with Toby. Smile

Thanks guys for the replies. I guess that explains why I also like Lloyd Green's sound so much! John, do you know what effects Dan uses? It sounds sort of like reverb with a very short tail at the beginning.

Dan uses a delay pedal only when he records. The reverbs are added in the studio. Classic Sho-Bud tone. He is going to be playing a Jeff Surratt Sho-Pro soon.

He was using a Line 6 DL4 Delay modeller when I recorded him...
