Just got the two Cindy Cashdollar DVDs last week.
Now, I've started learning C6 lap steel last winter; I first got the Mel-Bay instruction book by DeWitt Scott - great for starting out, learning the basics, I can play all the songs in the book by now; not very helpful for starting playing other stuff with a band, though...
Got the complete GeorgeBoards DVD series - now, those Power Rock and Blues DVDs were really helpful for getting started with improvising with other musicians, noodling around on blues scales, etc. (The DVDs about playing Sleepwalk and Hank Williams stuff were not that helpful - no TABs or score to follow, the presentation was a bit too fast for a beginner like me).
The Cindy Cashdollar DVDs are perfect! Very good, SLOW explanations from basic stuff to starting improvising, doing tricks, etc. (these will keep me busy for weeks, if not months...), and best of all, the DVDs came with additional TAB booklets - best of both worlds - you can see HOW it is done on screen, and you can easily follow WHAT is done in the booklet![This message was edited by Roman Sonnleitner on 18 May 2006 at 04:23 PM.] [This message was edited by Roman Sonnleitner on 18 May 2006 at 04:24 PM.] |

A-MEN on Cindy's DVDs.Had mine for bout a month now.She is a very good instructor,as well as one fine steeler.She has got me on the road to becoming a respectable player.
I'm hoping that she will offering an E13th course soon.That front neck is callin..PJ |

I find myself watching both of these over and over. Seems like there is always something new I can pick up that Cindy demonstrates or explains. This E13 "Leon McAuliffe" tuning from the tab was kind of a major find too.
Has anyone else heard Cindy and Herb Remington playing "Midnight in Amarillo" on this CD?

I think both of them are using E13 on this, anyone know for sure? It's a really great version of this tune, on a rather obscure CD.

Thomas, I do that too. Every time I look at those videos I glean a little more info from them. There's a lot of good stuff there.

I meant Cindy's two CDs 'Learn To Play Western Swing Steel Guitar - For Lap & Non-Pedal Models', parts 1 & 2 - they can easily be found at www.amazon.com or on Ebay, as well as from many DVD/musical instrument stores. |
