I have a tweed case for an old Stringmaster that is well past its glory. In fact, it's not in good shape at all. I'd like to see if I can get it restored. It mostly needs the tweed redone. Does anyone here do this kind of work, or can you recommend someone who does this kind of work? Or maybe someone who can build me a replica case?

Thanks.

Al

Al,

Post this same message in Wanted to Buy and I think you'll get a better response. I know there are several people who have looked for the same sort of thing in the past and been successful, but I don't know anybody offhand.

Good luck!

I had these folks redo the tweed on my Fender tweed amp and they did an A+ job. In fact, it was beautiful and flawless. Ask them if they would do your case.

The problem with Fender cases is that when they sew the leather ends on them, they sew thru the wood of the case too, which seems OK when new, but weakens the structure.
When it gets old and the wood shrinks and dries out, it isn't very strong any more.
Last summer I rebuilt a case for a Stringmaster quad, and covered it with tweed. I would not tackle another one. I used carbon fiber cloth epoxied to the inside to save the case.

Re-doing the tweed on an amp is a cake-walk compared to a guitar case.
Good luck with finding someone to do it for you.

BILL

That's hardly the wrong Paris, I love Paris, France. I've lived in France for more than a year at a time from an early age - I even attended lycee for a year. I love the people, I love the language, I love that they love the music and I must say that I love the food and wine.

However, Paris, Texas is much closer.

Thank you!
