I have been working with Freddie Roulette since I met him last July at the Slide and Steel workshop at Centrum in Port Townsend. (Registration for that event in June is open now, BTW) My goal was to showcase his style and technique for both the steel guitar community and music lovers as well.
So we've created LAPSTRAVAGANZA
This an evening concert in Santa Cruz at the Kuumbwa Jazz center on April 6th. Freddie will headline and he will be joined by 4 of our prime local steelers: Patti Maxine, Bill Leff, Bruce Wandmayer, and Charlie Wallace. These four will perform solo, with eachother and with Freddie. The Rehearsal and gig will be videoed for later release on DVD.

Is this going to be a regular thing?
Sounds like a great opportunity for all involved in steel, and a fine way to get more folks interested.
Best of luck! |

Just the one show is planned for now. If it's well received, I'd love to do more. But the video interview of Freddie and closeups of his playing---well, I just can't wait to see that stuff. He's so fun, so creative. |
