I picked this up at a garage sale for $25. It plays real pretty; blue MOTS. Has a metal plate on the bottom near where the neck would join the headstock and says Dickerson 0841. Any ideas as to yr? CC |

Dickerson lap steels were made during the 1930s and 1940s. Without some photos or an extremely detailed description, it would be impossible to guess at a date of manufacture.

I love my MOTS Dickerson with the matching amp! My ex-mother-in-law paid $7.50 for both at the Goodwill back in the day, and I've been loving both of them ever since! |

I really enjoy these small lap steels , great dimensions just like Jerry Byrd recommends. I have 4 with different tunings. I got three of them off of E-bay, but the prices have tripled for them now. Can't say I would ever pay that much for one, but if you get a deal, they sure are sweet. |

Brad has been a help to me on this and a fellow emailed me after stumbling onto the forum. He stated that he is a former magnatone employee in CA and the ser# 0841 means 0 standard model; 841 means it was made in aug 1941 during that production run. It was the last he believes before Pearl Harbor CC |

Dickerson was bought out by Magnatone wasn't it? Seems like they are very similar too, mots and all. |
