Okay so the Bama Gang sent The Kid up to Branson to learn a few things from the Terry Bethel right? Well, I guess he's learning...Seems Mr. Bethel was playing out with those Cajun musicians - Chuck and Wade Landry - at a little club there in town and The Kid was taggin' along. I heard he had a fake ID that said he was 30 years old and his name was Bill Cook. But I can't say for sure. Needless to say...he's learning quick! I was told he was 'being educated on how to play in a club'. Hmmmm... I'm certain the entertainment was FANTASTIC. Mr. Bethel - you care to elaborate?

On a serious note...To hear Terry Bethel play with Mel Tillis is awesome, to see and hear him let loose at a steel show - amazing, but to hear him kick it up a few notches with Wade and Chuck...incredible. Tyler is being influenced by one of the greatest players and people in the industry. Hope he took a few notes on the napkin...

First time I saw Terry play at a steel show in Gulfport, MS., I was shocked. His tone, touch and the way he works his guitar is truly amazing. One of the best I've ever seen. Hey Lana!

I agree with all that has been said.
I'd like to add that Tyler Hall has got some real good ability going on within himself. I heard this young man play at my booth in St. Louis and was impressed.

Now back to "Terry Bethel", Terry is a great friend to me first and formost. But his style and smoothness has influenced many a steel player myself included. I call him the master of the "Pedal Milkers" !!! I would jump at the chance Tyler has had, to follow Terry around for a few days, absorb all you can "Kid". Very Happy

Well I saw this post on the forum and had to add my 2 cents.
I saw Terry play in St Louis 3 years ago and it changed my life. I had never seen anyone play with so much soul. I have spent all of my time since trying to become a better player based on what I hear in Terry's playing. There is no better player and no better fellow either. I consider Terry a good friend and feel so lucky to have gotten to know him personally.....

I would just like to add that Terry is a friend of mine and I am a great fan of his. Nicer folks and better steelers just can't be found.

I ran into some video clips of some great picking at this site. The Terry Bethel #3 is one of the most beautiful versions of Tura-Lura-Lural I've ever heard. It's from the 2006 Ozark Steel Guitar Convention.

Miss Lana, If "The KID" is traveling around with my ID he shore better be having a "Grand/Large" Time. UHMM, If I was 30 years old and know what I know now, I would be in Hogs Heaven. Kid, Keep your eyes open, your mouth shut, and take it all in. This opportunity that Terry is giving you is invaluable. You can't buy this kind of education. "Have Fun" "KID"

Well, the rumours are true. Almost. Mr. Bethel has been teaching me the fine art of setting-up someone else's equipment. Very Happy

He's been so good to me. He's shown me licks, and carried me around town to hear him and some other great players. He helped get me a job playing with a great Branson show, and lets me stay with him. How can you top that? Terry is a great guy, and a great player. I hope to soak up all I can from Mr. Bethel. There's no way I could repay him, unless we keep going to Red Lobster. Very Happy

Terry, thank you for everything you've done for me. You'll never know how much it means to me.

Tyler,
I love the blue type, it reminds me of the way you play, smooth and with lots of color in your music.
I had to initiate you in the fine art of roadieisim, (I guess that is how you would spell it), you passed all of the tests.
Now about changing that knee pedal of yours at 1:00 o'clock in the morning, Hey!!!!! I have to sleep sometime you know!!!!!!!
I am glad it still works though. I have really enjoyed having you here in my home, I wish we could have been able to sit and play more. One of these days I am going to have time to do what I want to do, but it doesn't look like anytime soon. I want to announce that you, Tyler "the Kid" Hall, will play the Branson Jam this year. My young friend you are going to be one of the best players ever, if you will get off your a$* and practice the two licks I have taught you.

dang, T, good promo for you and the "kid" don't worry about his knee lever - he'll have it back to me to change again. I've got him playing back at the family dance when he gets home this weekend, maybe he won't forget his roots. ASGA needs to book their next show around your schedule, take care
