A big welcome to all of the newbies that have been so kind as to join this Forum and to announce their arrival. You are among friends.

Most of us are used to hearing the likes of America's top-flight professional recording artists and session players. We all want to be able to sound like "that"!

You can take a rare glimpse into the very early beginnings of one of the industry's absolute masters of the steel guitar, when he was only 18-19 years old. I think you'll be mighty surprised to discover that his early day playing was not at all unlike many of the rest of us. He had his beginning and after years of refining this and that, he became a legend to steel guitar.

I wish to welcome all new joiners too.

I forget sometimes the struggle of beginning an instrument.
never had computer guitar forums when I was a kid with a guitar.

what I did have was compatriots learning, playing, and sharing.

this is an amazing site.
so newbies, post away. I hope I can help.

As a "Newbie". it's nice to feel welcome on the forum. I've been a guitar player for 40+ years, new to steel. Been on a buying binge and have built a nice collection of laps and consoles. All those tunings available makes me feel like a (clumsy) kid in a candy store! Having a blast, appreciate all the help and good advice this forum provides.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. Where's one I'd like to know? The lap steel was popular because it was easy to learn? or easy to teach? Speaking for myself. It ain't so easy.
