Would someone give me an opinion on the Fender resonator guitars? Are the older ones to be found??

They're not very good-and some sound downright horrible. I have played some in Guitar Center stores. If you do the dobro "hot rod" upgrade-Quarterman cone, quality bridge, #14 Spider, Bone nut instead of plastic, they can sound pretty good.
But the prevailing wisdom thses days is that after all that, you can buy a Goldtone Paul Beard Signature model for a fairly reasonable price-and not have to hassle with all that garbage.
As far as old ones-I don't think Fender ever put much effort into these-I don't know what you mean by "old." Like something from the 70's and earlier?
Or do you mean "used" as in used newer Fenders?

I had a new Fender round-neck reso. It was better sounding than a new Regal. But there are plenty of better sounding resos out there. The Beard Goldtone has developed a reputation as the best sound for the money.

I've tried several in shops and hated them. They sound harsh and tuneless played spanish style, and waspish played lap style.

I Bought one about a year ago, it sounded just okay, but not very loud. I took it back to the music store for a refund, and I am still using my old guitar with a raised nut and it's louder and has a great sound.
I am still looking for a nice resonator, with the volume and tone of my dreams, but affordable of course!

I use a Fender resonator bass (FR51) and like it. It is short scale and I put flatwounds on it. It sounds good too me and it is better looking than the regular resonator guitar.
