I'm not equipped to accept payments via Pay Pal, but as soon as I've sold 200 copies, which is what I need in order to cover the expense of making this thing, (I sold 35 at the MESA show) I will turn sales over to b0b and Scotty and one or 2 other retailers, and those of you who need to pay with pay pal can purchase the disk from them.

I'm bumping this because I've received several E-mails in the last 2 or 3 days asking how to order the DVD.
Also my friend Herb Steiner has agreed to sell them at his booth at the Dallas show.
(For those who don't already know, Herb grew up in L.A., and we were friends as teenagers and played together in the first band either of us ever played in. But Herb became interested in country music and i became interested in rock and blues, and we drifted apart and lost touch with each other, till I took up the study of the steel in 1979. I had been planning to contact him, but before i could do so, he had learned from a mutual friend that I was getting into the steel, and he called me. Suffice to say that we rekindled our friendship and have been pals again ever since.)

I placed my order and received the DVD on Saturday. On Saturday night I sat down and just enjoyed myself. I have stated before I always thought Curly was not a great steel player and I based that from the Hee Haw show. I beg forgiveness from the steel guitar community. Hee Haw never showcased Curly Chalker to show the talent he was. This DVD is awesome and every steel player should buy one for their collection. Curly has to be considered one of the very best there ever will be. His C6th playing is out of this world. He makes it look so easy and those chords are just tremendous. Mike, you deserve so mush credit for putting your time and finances into this project. I hope you are truly blessed for what you have done with this project. I know one steel player here in Texas that is very happy, and that is me.

Curley Chalker's DVD
Could you tell us a little about the DVD? Is it mostly country, jazz,
or both? Is it all instrumental? What is the playing time? Maybe
this has already been mentioned and I missed it. I have a couple
of Curley's LP's and I love his playing.

Re: Curley Chalker's DVD
The DVD is just over 2 hours long, and consists of footage from 2 performances from December if 1996. Part one is from Scotty's Christmas party, where Curly performed an instrumental set with Bobby Caldwell on guitar, Russ Wever on bass, and Jimmy Queen on drums. There was also a set where people from the audience got up and sang. This material was not included in the DVD.Francis Chamberlain wrote:Could you tell us a little about the DVD? Parts 2 and 3 were from an actual concert held in California. Again, the instrumentation besides Curly, is just a guitar (Johnny Davis) a bass player (Our fellow forumite Jim Bob Sedgwick) and drummer John Mauceri.
The material is all instrumental. Is is 2 hours of non stop music. As soon as one song ends, the next begins. All the talking and tuning and smoking in between the songs has been edited out. The material ranges from country to pop to jazz to whatever Curly felt like playing. It's mostly C6, but there's a fair amount of E9 playing too.

Francis, Let me assure you that this DVD is fantatsic and you will not be disappointed. I do not know Mike personally but he is right about the performance from Curly Chalker. I have stated every steel player should have one for the collection. This DVD has me wanting more music from Curly Chalker. The man was just an excellent steel player, the kind most of us can only dream of.
