Paul, did you know to take the rear apron plate off? That will allow to remove the shafts. You will, most likely, need to loosen any bellcranks, but, if memory serves me, you don't need to remove the pedal pull assembly from the shaft. _________________ Best regards,

Jimmy, you can't take the back apron off a Classic SS, as its made of wood. Jack. |

I did extensive work on my SS after I got it, I made and added 4 knee levers. You just have to plan ahead somewhat to keep from having to pull some stuff out to add other stuff. You'll love it when you're done though. Here's pictures of the underside of mine after I finished. The vertical knee lever brackets, stops, and adjustments were my own design, I don't know how the originals were made.
Oh, to answer your first question, you can take the screws that hold the little angle bracket next to the rear apron, lift it up slightly, then pull the rod out of the bracket at the front of the guitar. The pull rods will need to be removed first, and the bellcranks loosened on the shaft so they will rotate and slide.

Darvin, that is magnificent.
I'm glad my MSA has a metal backplate; I'm about to take the plunge to improve the pedal functioning and move some cranks around.
As soon as I find a 'round tuit.' Anyone have one? _________________ Those that say don't know; those that know don't say.--Buddy Emmons |

Darvin nailed it on how to work on those.I've had 2 of those guitars and they really play and sound good and there're not really hard to change around, just a little different because of the round bell crank bars. Have fun. _________________ Henry Matthews
