Here is the official press release.
The Heart of Texas Country Music Association is hosting a benefit show for Darrell McCall's mother in law Monique Proulx on Sunday, February 18, at the Ed Davenport Civic Center in Brady. The show and dance will be held between 2:00 PM and 8:00 PM. The doors open at 1:00 PM and admission is a minimum $10.00 donation with all proceeds to be donated to the Monique Proulx Medical Fund.
Several Country Music Entertainers have already been confirmed for the event including Darrell and Mona McCall, Fiddlin Frenchie Burke, Frankie Miller, Curtis Potter, Justin Trevino, Johnny Dickinson Band, Billy Mata, Mark Powell & Lariat, Jerry Nail, Jimmy Eaves, Johnny Cox, Dixie Hankins, Ron Rnuth and Kelly Spinks.
Monique moved to the Fredonia, Texas, area with Darrell and Mona McCall last year. She was born and raised in Canada. In October of last year, emergency surgery was performed on Monique in Austin. While she was recovering, she suffered a heart attack and even more surgery was required and an extended stay in the hospital. Unfortunately, her Canadian insurance would not cover any medical expenses incurred in the United States.
"Fiddlin Frenchie Burke called and asked us to organize a benefit for Monique," KNEL disc jockey Tracy Pitcox said. "Darrell and Mona have been so generous with their time at various other benefits, that it was time to help their family. Monique is so proud to be living in Texas and her medical problems could not have come at a worse time. She was in the process of getting everything transferred to the United States when she became ill. This will be a special way to show that we care about those people that choose to make Central Texas their home."
Monique's health continues to improve. She is gaining strength daily and is looking forward to attending the event. Her recovery process has been slow, but doctors feel that she will make a complete recovery.
The Darrell McCall Fan Club will have food available during the event. It is BYOB with set ups available.
There will be a silent auction from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM with several items already donated from entertainers including Merle Haggard, Charley Pride, Ronnie Milsap, Bill Anderson, Ferlin Husky, Leona Williams, Jan Howard, Hank Thompson, Connie Smith and Marty Stuart among others.
The benefit will be on a "first come first serve basis" with no reservations or advance tickets. For more information about the Monique Proulx Benefit, contact the Heart of Texas Country Music Association at (325) 597-1895 _________________ Johnny "Dumplin" Cox

Lets bump this one up for a good cause. I am playing a gig with Curtis tonight and we will be headed to Brady in the morning. The weather is supposed to be beautiful for a change. Hope to see a lot of familiar faces there for a good cause and a great time. Johnny , best wishes on the new endeavor, I think you have opened the flood gates by offering lessons and wondering when you will have time for the studio. See you at Brady, Doyle |
