Gulp ! I'd better stop playing Harbour Lights on the E9 neck (tuned down to D#9) in F#, as I usually do. I never read the music, just remember it from the records....basilh wrote: Insists that the E7th is THE tuning for Hawaiian style, and plays ... Harbour Lights ... with the wrong chords, wrong 'straight Bar' harmonies and wrong timing ...
he plays incorrectly by repeating the first eight bars twice, middle eight and the first eight again, ignoring the different notes on the end of the second and last eight. ... he finds it easier to play in (D, E, F#. Fill in appropriate one )
Thanks for the advanced warning. If you ask me to play Harbour Lights I'll remember to play it in D# on the C6 neck.....
...and I'll keep my hat on to cut down the reflection.
We'll run through all of those "Shopwstopper" numbers ?
When you come over.
We may even record a duet just for the 'Forum' and posterity !!
BTW I think Jimmy Kennedy envisaged his tune to be more like Portstewart than Hawaii
