My wife's attending a seminar 3/5-3/10..I changed my vacation to go with her, then found out she'd be tied up 8 AM -8 PM everyday!! Are there any steelers around during the day to jam with near there?? I might run up to get a lesson with Buddy Charlton...Is he at Billy Cooper's? JS

Ah, my hometown!

Well John, I don't know about any steel players anymore since I've been gone a while but if it's any consolation, Charlottesville and Albemarle County are beautiful places to explore. And if you are a history buff there is a lot there. A visit to Monticello would be high on the list.

I grew up on nearby Carter Mountain, which is a commercial orchard that overlooks the city and affords some wonderful views. They allow visitors, and it is right near Monticello.

I'm pretty sure Buddy teaches at Billy's these days. Tell 'em hi for me...

John, a buddy of mine who lives in Charlottesville received his new Zum about 2 months ago. I've been threatening to visit him...visit his steel. Maybe I can persuade him to host a little jam, I'll bring the tracks. If that doesn't work out, I'm about a 2 hour drive north if you want to attend a jam by me. Let me know and yes, Buddy is at Cooper's.

Yep, Jay's "The Real Thing".

And Tommy, didn't know you were a BC alum. That explains a lot.

Tommy and Jeff, I haven't seen either one of you in person in 20 years or more but you sure don't miss a trick---is that what living in Texas does to you? Laughing
John, in spite of what those two transplanted Virginians said you are supposed to drink Pepsi when you are in my neck of the woods and yes you should definitely plan to get up and visit with Buddy at least once while you are here maybe twice since you are here for a whole week.
Gary, the time he is here is during the week but if you think you can get a day off we might be able to work out something? Rolling Eyes

Jay, 3/10 falls on a Saturday, assuming he leaves 12:01AM 3/11 there will be plenty of time...

John, whats the dilly_o on your planned departure?

Coke & Pepsi tastes the same when we add Turkey 101, can Jay tell the difference???? IS there a difference? Garnish with a splash or 2 of Rose's and whats not to like? OK, fresh lime...

Well, if she's gonna be tied up for 12 hours a day, you might at least want to go watch! Wink
