In 1988 buy your first ever steel guitar D-10 Sho-Bud for $600 from Mac McConnel. Find a cheap, used Fender amp that you can't find parts for. Grumble, grumble, gripe, gripe dang pot-metal thing keeps breaking strings. Trade up for the Mullen D-10 that is in Mac's shop for $1400 and a new Fender Princeton. Nice guitar but the daughter is getting married and you need money to go to the wedding. Sell guitar, amp, and all lesson material.

The year 2000 - grumble, grumble, gripe, gripe you ain't go no steel guitar. Finally break through in 2004 with a new stuff.

Sherman, I don't think there is any psychic pain in the world that can compare to that of wanting a steel guitar and not having one or not yet being able to have one...

That's why I have 4 of 'em...
