What a great player he has become, full of talent and convidence and you can see he really enjoys what he is doing.
There is much more too be said about this young man,the way he and Jonathan buddy around and jam together and Austin always sees to it that Jonathan is well assisted in thier moving around.
When Ferd started tearing down his booth Austin was right in there helping us load Fred's van.He is so thoughtful towards others, you couldn't be ask for a better young man that he has become. The Newberry and Stewart family has done a great job helping him grow and I know you could not be more proud of him than the rest of us that have the privilige of knowing him.

Ray & Fred,

Thanks for the kind words about Austin. We like to hear good things about his playing, but when people talk about how he acts and about him being polite, then that means a LOT to us. We ARE proud of him and his playing. Thanks again.

I don't think Fred could ever stick Austin with the check. We have been trying for years Wink

If you are around Austin for long, you will find that the minute he sees that green stuff, he can snatch it from your hand quicker than the speed of light.

Dana, at least he is polite and smiles when he does snatch the green. He is a wonderful person to be around, but hey, so is the rest of his family.

I have to jump in here on this one too. I got the opertunity to talk to him one on one up by the stage at the Mesa show. A couple of years ago I did the same and I talked to a kid but this year I talked to a very very nice young man. I talked him into playing Orange Blossom Special on his solo set after Donna had told me that his Mom told him not to play it. I talked long and hard and told him I would take the heat from Mom. I even announced it on stage and got smiles from everyone.

He is a great young man and I came away with insperation for me to practice.

The Steel Guitar Family will be in great hands with a few more Austins or even close to Austins. I keep telling him DO NOT STOP PLAYING YOU HEART OUT.

The whole family is great to be around and talk to.

You should hear Austin play OBS when he changes it to a waltz in the middle. You are right about talking to a fine young man, he's growing up real good.

Lee, We have talked about doing that on stage. Even let Jerry do the waltz part if we could get him to learn it. I think it would be cool for one of them to do it that way. Maybe one day they will.
