Tom Bradshaw has got a super clean Fender for sale on his web site. I've seen it. Truly amazing. I didn't think it was a SM cuz it's got the lollipop tuners but Tom checked with Bobbe S. and he swears that it is. What do you think a guitar like this would bring these days?

Wow that is quite an ironing board! Are those the original style controls and bridge covers?

The lollipop tuners are original. I have a few very early Stringmasters and they all have these tuners. These Stringmasters have different pickups on them also, there is no blend control.

Billy, I bought this T-8 a little over a year ago and paid around $2000 for it then. After Jason Lollar rewound a bad pickup for me it works great and sounds awesome. Since then the prices for these wonderful guitars have gone up.

Erv, on mine the tone control works kind of like a blender control. The bridge pick up is always on so when you turn the tone control it just adds more of the neck pickup for the selected neck.

That looks very much like mine but mine is a 1953 Serial number 0068. I bought it from the orignal owner and it was pretty much unplayed for 53 years. I wonder if Tom's is perhaps older than a 56'. Also wonder when they made the change to the newer tuner and pickup pot control. It has huge bass strings on the 4th neck and I recently bought a nut to convert it to smaller strings. I have been told that the bass string setup really didnt get much use. Can't say I ever heard a recording that used it.

Noel Boggs used the bass neck frequently. Listen to Magic Steel Guitar.

I would bet that the finish on Tom Bradshaw's quad is not original.

...looks like a good candidate for gloss black lacquer to me.

Yes--26". 33 frets.

Nobody has commented yet on the apparent lack of vol/tone controls on the Bradshaw quad. What's up with that?

I guess they knew that some day I'd be building Volume/Tone~Control Boxes that clip on the leg of the guitar!

Does anybody what to make a ballpark figure on what a quad in average condition goes for?

Fender S-masters may be on the rise, value wise--but take a look at Ebay #7404648202--talk about getting 'out of reach', and it's only a Single 6! Whew!
