Is there any Magnum steel players?I was thinking about getting one and i would like some input on them.

I can give you my honest opinion on the D-10 I play. Lightweight, stays in tune and is trouble free. I had the George L SS pick ups installed in mine and its got tone and sustain as long as you want it on both necks. I had to get use to the powder coated or beaded aluminum ( believe that's correct) but the more I looked at it, the better I liked it. In a nightclub setting where there's bright stage lights glaring off of aluminum, it's a plus. I'm very impressed with mine. Also, you'll get first class service from the folks that build the guitar. This is just my honest opinion and exactly what I think on the subject. I'll give my opinion on any brands I'm familiar with, if asked.

i love mine. sd-10 but have to sell it due to employment. otherwise i wouldn't. look in instruments for sale at pics of mine. just like new and cheaper than new.

I've had my sd10 for close to a year, and I still love playing it. It was ready to play straight out of the box, and hasn't required much tweaking. I've had some difficulty tuning the split, but I suspect that is my own incompetence, not a fault of the guitar. It sounds great through my Twin, & my Pod. When I decided to step up to a professional guitar I was concerned about having to go through several before I found the right one, but the Magnum turned out to be the right choice right out of the gate. I see that some players have changed the pickup, although I can't imagine why, I guess everyone's ears are different, but mine is stock, just the way Carter built it & I couldn't be happier!

Hats off to Billy. He's always ready for a head-turning demo and a friendly smile. Great job as always on the playing, and thanks John for converting more and more guitars players. It was your video that helped to convince me I could do this. Keep up the good work.

Dan take alook at the new performance guitar that Jerry Brightman builds great guitar in my opinion and tone and sustain goes on forever I like mine as god as I do my two
Emmons guitars and Bobbe Seymore is handling them now
and Bobby is a pretty good guy to deal with for an average
white boy HaHa! p/s don't let Bobbe see this Randy

Can anyone tell me what kind of bar that was used in the demo that caused the steel to sound very much like a lead guitar?

I'm pretty sure it's a ceramic Poncha bullet bar made by Rocky Mountain Slides.

You guys that are playing the Magnum, is there any adjustability in the rear legs, and will the guitar accept a lift kit.
About all steels that I sit behind need to be lifted an inch or two.

Johnny, lift kits of 1", 2" or 3" are available for the Magnum thru the Magnum dealers.

The Magnum is an off-the-shelf production item, sold in music stores. Carter pro guitars are custom made and set up at the factory with your choice of finish, copedent, etc.

I don't think that one is better than the other, in technical terms. If you're happy with the stock setup, or are comfortable changing the copedent yourself, you can probably take delivery of a Magnum faster than you can have a new Carter built to your specs.
