I'm looking for the best way to amplify my Gold Tone PBS without drilling any holes. Contact mikes prefered for live playing in the band. I have a Baggs preamp.
I had a McIntyre pickup on another dobro and I felt it reduced the volume level somewhat. I have heard the Fishman and I think they sound too tinny for my ears and require drilling for the jack.
Also if I do end up installing an internal pickup will this alter my Paul Beard set-up?

Schertler "Basik" seems go get a lot of votes theese days.
I have a magnetic Barcus Berry that sounds every bit as good (and less tinny) as my Fishman. It's mounted with double sided tape. No drilling.

| Don, I've been using a small AudioTechnica clip-on mic, usually used for sax, etc. It sounds great, no feedback, and you can change position to alter the tone. I think it's the ATM-35 model. I have a McIntyre Feather in my reso and I don't like the sound at all. |

By the way the ADA 200 amp is still working just fine after some repairs by Blake Hawkins.

I`ve tried everything and the Audio Technica (Pro 35 , about 230 usd list) is what I use now .

The AKG c1000 with the hyper cardoid "cap" on is a good live microphone for reso too.
I have used them on stage (in a band with drums, electric bass, acoustic guitar and me)a few times and i can actually get about twice the monitor level as with the Fishman without any feedback.
Of course you can't clip it on the guitar, but you can get a used one at quite resonable prices.

One thing about the clip on mic thing, it's really convienient, but I love the way you can move in and out of a boom-mounted mic for tonal and volume differences. I usually sit down to play reso and it's nice to get those variations.
