I used this common Jerry Byrd colloquialism at the recent "Summit" ...

And several folks were not familiar with it or its meaning ...

So as promised ... I dug up a song that pretty much sums up this "phrase".

Here's Bobby Nichols ... puttin' some serious hurtin' to Queen Kapi'olani's:

He Mana'o He Aloha (Ka Ipo Lei Manu)

I first heard this when I bought a compilation LP from "Farmer's Market" in WPB in the late 80's for like $1 ...

It's also included on Cumquat's first Lani McIntire CD ...

Looks like I need to send for a few of those new releases from Cumquat Records

Right, achingly beautiful steel guitar!

I love Bobby Nichols' playing and tone. That clip made me want to put on my "Bing Crosby, My Favorite Hawaiian Songs" CD. The Lani McIntire band with Nichols on steel backing the crooner on many of the tracks. Whatever one mignt think of Bing's vocal interpretations (I love 'em), Nichols' steel work is essentially Hawaiian--simple and beautiful.

Thanks for posting that Rick! I also must get me some o' them Cumquats.
