In reality, The slides make for less backwards wrist bending and as was stated earlier, can put heavier end over lower-pitched strings for uniform sustain and tone with a lighter overall bar weight.
and Howard, I try never to pass on an opportunity to offend, but I don't wanna get banned from the forum. Its hard sometimes when these opportunities are so tempting.

Back to Keoki's note. Keoki must have been in a bar and after a dozen drinks, things probably looked "tapered"1!!!!

I'm bringing this thread back, because I have a Black Phoenix JB sized tapered bar, which I love. But, the black coating is literally 'wash-boarding' and crinkling up on the tip. I emailed Chuck about it, and he's always been great about setting things right, so I'm not concerned about that.
I was just curious: has anyone else had this happen with their bars? It's weird. Unfortunately, it catches on the strings, so I have to get it replaced.
I'd really like to find a 2.75" x 7/8" tapered bar, but hardened chrome. I'm not having too much luck finding one. If anyone knows, please post here. My friend Dick Sanft has a couple of them, but he's had them for decades, and I would certainly never ask if he'd want to part with one.
In the meantime, I'll get this one replaced, because I for one really do like the tapered bar for single-note stuff.
Thanks!
