The first string I tried was a flat wound chrome, these sound good on a lap steel but produced only a dull thud on the Sho Bud. Bar noise is a problem, anyone tried half rounds?

10 vs 12

I can barely play 10 string E9th. I'm constarntly reaching for the root note on string 11 with pedals down, and I wouldn't be able to play rhythm at all without the low E string.

I have been playing a D12 since 1968 and I can't recall having any trouble with the lower strings buzzing. Maybe I am muting somehow that I have never been aware of.
