Fender Dual Pro tuning pans

Post by Everette Reeves »

Hi Greg. I have a couple of old pans that are stripped and are somewhat rusty, etc. Also the crossbar is the wide one where most pans have a square crossbar. I just repaired my old Fender D8 tuners and let me tell you it was a job but I did it and also plated the pans. Regards. Paul.

Everett, thank you for your reply, I live in a rural area and there isn't anyone around to help me, Thank you for your suggestion, I guess I'll have to hold off or try to lube the three tuners that are jammed by myself.

 I took my rusted tuner pan off the guitar and soaked it in a bowl full of WD-40 for a couple of days. Then with the help of a toothbrush and some gentle scraping most all of the rust came off. I then applied some 30wt oil and the tuners work real well :D . What ever you do DON'T force the tuner to move, you might strip the gear :!:
