what are the pros and cons of stainless to nickle steel guitar strings.

| Nickle wound strings are a little quieter and mellower sounding. Stainless steel wounds are brighter sounding and last longer. The unwound strings are all the same. Cobras are similar to stainless steel. |

Comparing Jagwire stainless to Jagwire nickel, it's easier to change pitch on the stainless wound string. That means that your pedal and knee lever movement can be shorter/easier.
Before you assume that that is a good thing, remember that it also means that tuning problems such as cabinet drop are also a little worse with stainless strings.
I think the difference is about 20% (no very much). |

I've been using Jagwire nickel wound strings on my Mullen for some time now. Great strings. I just tried a set of Jagwire stainless wound strings and love them even more. The wound strings have a bit more crispness in tone.
