Topic: Lloyd Green on TV last night |

Last night we were listening to an old Lawrence Welk program on Educational TV and much to my surprise a very youthful Lloyd Green made a guest appearance  Lloyd was on stage with Charlie Pride. They showed some good close-up shots. He was not playing his LDG but a double neck.This sort of surprised me.  But his tone sounded very much like the LDG. How long did he play something other than his Green LDG? |

I only saw 2 songs--Between You and Me, and Lovesick Blues.
I can't answer the guitar questions, but if anyone has video of these that they can post, that would be awfully nice.

From when he started playing steel until sometime in the early 70's, not sure of the exact date but pretty sure he was playing a 'the professional' sho-bud and had Shot & co remove the C6 neck and pedals etc. and put a pad in it's place. It was sometime after this seemed like a good idea that they decided to issue it as a LDG model and I believe the first few LDG's had a longer scale then sho-buds typically had. |

| I've seen that show twice on pbs. It's gotta be one of the coolest finger tip Sho-Buds I've seen. I owned one for a while. A double-12 w/ 9 pedals & 5 knees Blonde with mahogany butcher block inlay. Wish I still had it...Bill |

Maybe more important than what guitar Mr Nashville was playing was the fact Charlie Pride had such respect for him and his talent that LDG was on stage/camera with Charlie Pride in such a manor. How often do see that today? During this time period, they both were giants in the music business, and still are in my book.
It just seemed the singers payed more respect in the live shows for the people who helped make "their" sound in a long gone aera. |
