This is a bit wider than I'd like, but I like the concept. Maybe one designed on a scale that made it on par with the width of, say, one of those old Supro "paddle" style steels? Maybe 8 inches wide or so, and short scale. -TJW

Those are some pretty crude rails; won't hold in anything over 2 feet. And with a rocker like that, good luck making the drop.

That looks like one of Hank Mann's creations. If you put 8 or 10 strings on there and a triple reverse speed skeg, you'd really have something. You could also rig a King Kong Kord and sling it over your shoulder while you're hitching a ride down PCH. Back in the early 80s, Drew Steele from the Surf Punks had a functional skateboard with a Strat neck and DiMarzio humbuckers on it and even had a cutaway.He went wireless and with his bleached blonde dreadlocks,would ride it out onstage in a pink and black wetsuit with it feeding back and kickflip it up,catch it and start playing (completely out of tune of course). Ya had to be there.

But this one looks like it would float and that's always handy.

I think I'd use an ice skate on the left foot for the steel, and try to get some toe picks special ordered for the right foot.
