I can't find the fill lick at the beginning of the 2nd verse on Keith Urban - <i>But For The Grace Of God</i>.

Sounds like it's on the 1st string full-tone raise. I can play something similar but I think there's a better way to do it.

From what I've seen in the tab, it is a full tone raise on 1st string, something I don't have

If you have the single raise (F# to G) you can do it with a forward bar slant. That's how Lloyd Green gets that effect when he needs it.

I guess I just need to sit down and figure it out. Think link above has only the steel intro, which I had no problem with.

Yes Gary it's a 1st string full-tone raise. The whole lick is done at the 8th fret starting with B pedal down on 6th string, then 5 stg open followed by 5A, 2, 4, 1, 3, then 1 raised a whole tone and released, ending on the 4 stg. The notes on 5A and 2 are doubled picked.

Thanks Larry. I was trying to start at the 3rd fret. No wonder I couldn't find it.

Gary, you can start it on the 3rd fret and work your way up to the 8 fret. I did it both ways but it's easier at the 8th fret where you don't have to do the fret changes. Try it both ways.

I printed your "verbal tab" and intended to take it with me to practice tonight. But I forgot it.

However, I actually listened to the lick from the CD tonight and it took about 60 seconds to actually figure it out so that I could play it every time.

Not sure why I made it so hard in the first place.
