Replacement Pots For B/W Rick

Post by Terry Goodman »

I have a b/w 6 string Rick lap with 1 1/4" pup. The tone and volume pot do not work properly. Where can I get replacements, and do you know if it would have a negative effect on the tone?

Also, the tuning keys are pretty bad. Any suggestions on replacements?

Thanks,

Terry

Unless there is actual damage to the metal, I'd just replace the buttons. You can get replacements from Stewart McDonald for a few bucks. As to the pots, have you tried disassembling and cleaning them? That can help in most situations. New pots are not a big tone change but any change at all is unwelcome.

I just changed pots on by Rick Panda and they work great. You can pick them up at Elderly Instrements for $6.00 apiece. I used 250K for both pots. I originally put a 500K pot for the tone control but found out that produced too much treble. Again, as Keith said, if the buttons are the only problem, just replace them. I also did mine and one tuner was bent slightly. Just took a pair of pliers and straightened it out. Good luck.
