This is for my fellow universal players. What do you think about the following idea? Actually, two ideas - pedal A and B swap for strings 9, 10, 12; and D on the C pedal. Looks like this:

This would eliminate the need for an additional knee lever (which I don't have) that raises string 9 to C# and D, I would win an add9 chord on the B pedal, but lose some minor chords and some 6th chords.
BTW, b0b, the formatting is driving me mad.... I miss the font command.

Yeah, but Hans . . .
you can't have the D by itself -- i.e., with 4 and 5 unchanged. Without the B in the lower octave it's pretty important to have it on top
If you have E to D on 8 -- on a lever (as we've discussed) -- it's not as big an issue, but the tuning/changes lose some flexibility.
Why not just combine the 9th string change with the lever that lowers 2 from D# to D (and possibly to C# as well)?
I'd get very confused when the intervals start jumping around in the lower octaves. I play a lot of A/B pedal licks on the lower strings and I think it might drive me nuts. Wouldn't work for me, but I'm used to what I'm used to. It is an interesting idea. If one started out that way it would probably work fine.

Thanks, Larry. I guess you're right. Too confusing with questionable usefulness. I have the second string D# to D lower on the lever that lowers string 8 to D, so I would need an additional lever for raising the 9th string.

| I would never mess up my A pedal like that. I have the A pedal pull all the Bs to C#, including string 12. That minor chord across all strings is my favorite jazz and minor blues position. |
