Just a quick note to members in UK - Al Perkins is on tour with Kevin Montgomery and playing a ZB SD11 originally made for Eric Snowball. Check out Kevin's website for dates. http://www.kevinmontgomery.com/shows.html

Tony,
Thanks for posting this info. The ZB you describe (ex-Eric Snowball) happened to be in my shop for sale, some 3 or 4 years ago, when Al emailed me asking what steel we could hire him for a pending tour with Kevin. I mentioned this ZB to him and he came with Kevin to take a look at it one evening. (I was away on the road with Heather Myles at the time). He decided to take it and John White (my good friend and repair guru) set it up with his copedant (as closely as was possible in the time available) and he rented it for the tour and Kevin ended up buying it so they'd not have to fly a steel across the Atlantic for tours. (Very sensible!).
Al is a monster player on lap or pedals and everyone should go and see these shows! |

Thanks for the additional info Gerry. I fixed a pull-rod connection the other week and did a quick set-up before the tour began.
You mentioned Al's co-pedent, it's an interesting departure from the usual "Emmons" set-up in the direction of the "E" knee-levers (both left knee) raise right, lower left. Best wishes, Tony.
PS - Gerry, why not let's know about your upcoming gigs with Albert Lee? I see you are doing Mickleton Village Hall (a real go-ahead venue in Co. Durham, believe me) a few weeks after Al and Kevin. T. |

Gerry
I think that was the ZB 11string I was selling the year Russ Hicks was at the Newbury festival. Glad to see it went to such a good home!

Matt:
I do believe you're correct! I was out and about so much at that time that I didn't connect!
