Does anyone have info on the Nioma brand? I think that it was a pre-war maker.

I am not sure if you are refering to electric steels or resonator instruments.
I have a Nioma " Dobro ". It was a Regal made instrument bearing the Nioma label. From what I have read Regal made guitars for Nioma, Montgomery Wards, as well as Dobro and probably a few more labels too.
I think my instrument was made in the early 30's. It's a great guitar with the original stamped cone in great condition. Perfect for Oswald type playing.
I have seen "Nioma" electric steels as well....but don't know anything about them. My guess is they would be prewar as well.

I am referring to lap steels. There is one on ebay right now (Item number: 7398803148) that looks exactly like my GEBS (except mine is yellow & beat up).

I think that NIOMA published Hawaiian music in the '30's also.
