I saw Poco live last night in Akron, OH. Rusty Young on his Carter Pedal was awesome. He displayed an impressive command of the instrument. I was only a few feet from the stage and got to briefly compliment him on his playing after the show. I have since read that he also does lap steel but not last night. Does anyone know of his non-pedal work?

I saw him play a Rickenbacher Silver Hawaiian about a year ago at the Canyon Club in Agoura, CA. Played it very overdriven. He is very talented. As a mater of fact I happened to be listening to Buffalo Sprinfield driving around today. "Kind Woman" is one of my all time favorites.

1976, Madison Square Garden -- the Outlaws, Poco and the Doobe Brothers. Zowie. Rusty played pedal steel - no Melobar or lap. He always amazed me -- his break on Sagebrush Seranade blows me away every time I hear it.

I saw Poco in 1969 in CA. They opened for the WHO!
I didn't even know what a steel guitar was then.

Loni,
I saw Poco then at the Cyn Club too. Lap steel sounded fine, but they didn't play "Kind Woman" which was a disappointment to me. The sound system was too loud, to the point of distorting.

I did not know a whole lot about Poco until just recently. My wife knows the drummer's wife and this peaked my interest. I was excited about discovering the inclusion of the steel guitar. I am not even sure they played "Kind Woman" last Friday, but I will check out the number. Is "Kind Woman" done with lap or pedal? I too, thought the volume was a bit too elevated, but rock style bands do this, I understand, to keep the excitement and adrenalin flowing.

"Kind Woman" first appeared on the final Buffalo Springfield album, "Last Time Around" which I believe came out in 1968. Richie Furay sang the lead vocal, and Rusty Young played pedal steel.

"You'd better think twice", one of my favorite tunes... Played it a bunch during my DJ years.

Anyone know the current lineup? Their website lists tour dates, but all other info I saw was old.
I've read nothing about George Grantham since his stroke in '04. I hope he's still among us. One of the tightest drummers I've ever heard.

The new drummer is George Lawrence.

The bassist is Jack Sundrud.

Then of course there is Paul Cotton and Rusty Young.

Richie Furay showed up awhile back at a gig at the Belcourt Theater in Nashville.

There is a good article on Poco in the magazine "Hittin' the Note" issue 47, which has Susan Tedeschi on the cover.

I think this one is from Dec/Jan.

I bought their last cd/dvd last year. Seems to me Rusty Young IS Poco now. Everybody else seemed to have a minor role. He even sang lead and played a bunch of lead guitar. It was good but not the Poco I saw in 1972.
