Rhythm tracks by Artist - Ernest Tubb

Post by Herb Steiner »

I've had a lot of positive response from the steel players... and other instrumentalists, as well... that have received my rhythm track packages, which include a CD with the tracks and a book of chord progressions to follow. For this wonderful response I am grateful, both from those of y'all who have purchased from me (online and at steel shows) as well as those who get the tracks from b0b here in the Forumland catalog.

The next few tracks packages I have planned coming up are going to be artist specific; that is, 15 classic songs from great country artists of the past and present. "Greatest Hits" collections so to speak. Upcoming sets will be George Jones songs, Lefty Frizzell songs, and George Strait songs.

This first one, which is now available, is Ernest Tubb Classics, favorite tunes to play from the Texas Troubadour's repertoire which spans decades. Here's the song list and keys:

1. Driving Nails In My Coffin – C
2. Half A Mind – A
3. Have You Ever Been Lonely – C
4. I Love You Because – G
5. In Her Own Peculiar Way – C
6. Jealous Loving Heart – A
7. Rainbow At Midnight – G
8. Slippin’ Around – G
9. Thanks A Lot – G
10. There’s A Little Bit Of Everything In Texas – G
11. Tomorrow Never Comes – C
12. Walking The Floor Over You – C
13. Waltz Across Texas – A
14. Warm Red Wine – C
15. You Don’t Have To Be A Baby To Cry – C

Just a side note, it may seem that every song is either in the keys of G, C, or A. Well, those are the original keys, since ET didn't really play in a whole bunch of keys. I kept the original keys, though the songs are longer, with more choruses, than the original recordings. This is for practice and "jamming" purposes. The CD is one hour in length, plenty of time to work up solos, arrangements, etc.

As with my previous tracks, they were all recorded using Band In A Box V. 2004 with a Roland VSC3 sound card.

Of course, there's once again a book of charts for the individual chord progressions, so following the tracks on the CD is easy. The packages will help you learn to follow chord charts as well, if that's a weakness in your technique.

The ordering information will be up on the website in a day or two, but if you want one right now, you can use PayPal and I'll get it in the mail immediately. Bear in mind I'll be leaving for Missouri and Scotty's ISGC on Sunday Aug. 28, and I'll be gone until Sept 11.

The cost of the package is $17.00, postage included. My PayPal address is retrobilly@austin.rr.com

If there's any questions, do the email thing with me.
