| I know Jimmy very well. He's a very dedicated man who loves everything about Hawai'i as much as do I. Jimmy has attended many conventions in past years. I'm sorry to read of his failing health and can only wish him and his wife Beverly as much happiness as possible. |

Jimmie is a great steel guitarist who has recorded.
He went to Hawaii every year and would sit in with the local groups who had no steel guitarist. I believe that it was his way of saying, "Guys, I think you need to get a steel guitar player into your band." Nevertheless, he enjoyed sitting in with local groups in Hawaii and giving them support with his steel guitar playing.

| Jimmy has visited New Zealand a few times and on one of his visits recorded with Bill Sevesi. When leaving to go back via Hawaii he asked Bill if there was anything he wanted him to tell anybody. Unusual wording Bill thought and after a while he said to tell Jerry Byrd to get off his backside and come and see us, we can't all go over there. Bill received a letter from Jimmy after he got back home " Jerry said to write to him." The wheels got into motion and when Jerry and his playmates eventually arrived in Auckland Jerry pulled Bill aside and said " Jimmy told me every word you said. We are going to get along just fine." This was the musical experience of a lifetime for so many of us - one from the South Island - 800 miles - one from the Solomon Islands - a lot more miles. Ben Tawhiti put on a bar-b-q on the Sunday after the concert and it seems we got that right - Kalani said that with all their travels, this was the first time they had been invited to anyone's home, usually airport-hotel-concert-hotel-airport. And although we started the entertainment they worked hard to give us a double dose of how it is done and answers to all questions. Jimmy's visit touched so many lives because of those few unusual words. |

| These are the experiences I knew had to be out there. Spread over Jimmy's lifetime, I'm sure there are many more interesting episodes like those of you guys. |
