Back-Saver Folding Hand Truck

If you have an Aching Back from dragging your Axe and all your equipment to and from GIGs, Jams etc, I have the answer for you.
At the Mesa show I noticed that most of the pickers were using folding hand trucks loaded to the top, to move their setup to and from the stage. Then it hit me "I gotta have one of those". I checked out the hand trucks they were using and they had a lot of plastic parts and seemed kinda flimsy to me. So I spent a couple of days searching my sources to find the best folding hand truck on the PLANET. I ordered one and my Aching Back has been thanking me ever since!
I can move my NV112 and my GFI ULTRA at the same time with no strain. The next trip moves my PacSeat with backrest, my four space rack, my briefcase full of essential stuff and mike stand. This thing is rated at 200 Lb. capacity so it doesn't even grunt with a Nashvill 500 and a Double Ten Sho-Bud on board!

This folding Hand Truck is all Alumunum except for the 7" rubber wheels with ball bearings. All those plastic parts on the brand X hand trucks are gone with Aluminum in their place. Fully loaded this Back-Saver handles the load easily and is very stable. At less than 10 Lbs, and folded to only 2 1/2" thick it is easily stored right with your guitar case while you are pickin and grinnin! All the other guys in the band kept borowing mine and finally two of them had to have their own.

As pointed out in several posts below, apparently this same cart is available at Costco and Lowes'. I live kinda in the Boonies and was unaware of this. Because of their volume buying (By The Boatload), I cannot compete with their prices! These really are great carts so I would certainly recommend that you guys needing one, buy it where you can get them for $39.99 ie, Costco or Lowes'. My cost, through my supplier is way above that! Anyway, I am glad this post generated some discussion on easier ways to move you rig without trashing your back. Before I got my cart, I was considering quitting PSG and going to a SuperSlide because of the back factor. Not anymore! Let the pedal steel picking begin!!!

P.S To Reese. I still have my eye on that SuperSlide but for different reasons!

I got mine at Lowes for $39.99. So if you can't find one locally, this sure sounds like a good deal to me. It is truly a back saver. Since I have to haul my stuff in a 4 door sedan, it fits nicely behind the back of the fron seat on the floor while my steel and amp are on the back seat, belted in.

I use a multi-cart
Mine is older and is red and grey with solid wheels.... I didn't want to have a flat... It was not cheap (about $150 at the time) but I was having back problems when I bought it and wanted something that I didn't have to balance... just push. It has paid for itself many times over.

I would not use an upright hand truck, I use a Total Trolley that has 4 wheels, I lay my D-10 flat,My Seat on top, & my amp between the handle & end of steel case, our drummer then uses it to haul all of his cases in 2 trips, these were advertised heavily on TV for $80.00 but can be bought on internet for $40.00, just go to Total Trolley & several offers come up, just go for the cheapest! this is the best there is for hauling your equipment, nothing comes close, Al Udeen

You can google the trolley thing.
I'm with Mike S---I've got the same one (not the one in the picture, I don't think)--the smallest model with solid wheels. It weighs 17 lbs and does everything it's advertised to do. The criticisms: you cannot really use it as a two wheel handtruck. Not practical with the little wheels in your face instead of some sort of handle. And the small wheels will not roll well over unpaved surfaces so you will have trouble on those beach & cow pasture gigs. After something like 5 years of quality service mine is showing some rust after some rain & snow jobs--I should have dried it down but at 2 am, well.....If I need to replace it I will probably buy the exact same thing so there's the ultimate testimonial.
The mini hauls steel, combo or head & cab rigs, seat, pedalboard--no prob, and collapses down to a small footprint.

Chris! I'm very sorry if I misled you on the price, I just spent an 1/2 hour looking on the net also,& did not see any at the lower price??? my Trolley was given to me by a Buddy that bought 2 of them at $80 for one & 1/2 price for the second one, when I looked on the net last year, there were several for around $40 & another friend bought one for that, I have forwaded an e-mail to you, regarding, where he bought it for that amount, I'm wondering if the manufacturer made them stop advertising the lower prices? hopefully you'll find one at the right price!
