I just received some info, and photos, of, what looks to be, a well made single 10, lap steel. On the end of the fret-board, it says Winnepeg - Canada. Does anyone know who is building them, etc?

Hi Charlie, that must be a deep 'n' dark secret. It will be interesting to see what that's all about.

Yea George, the one they sent my photos of may be the prototype. No idea if they have plans to produce the thing!

Craig...I'll have you know that many so-called "Hawaiian" songs are actually Canadian ! For example...
* Eh Mama Eh ?
* Meleana Eh ?
* Hui Eh ?
* Hilo Eh ?
...and I could go on. Even the great Duke Ellington hit "Take The 'A' Train" was originally known in Canada as "Take the Train, eh !"

Charlie...The only guitar I have ever seen which was made in quantity in Winnipeg was the JANZ which was made by Bill Janz during the 1944 - 48 era. I owned one and (the late) Jack Mooney had a double 6 string JANZ in the mid-forties.

Tex Emery is the principal designer/builder. I think he's open to inquires at: texbon@shaw.ca
He is somewhere in the middle of Saskatchewan.
Really good player, haven't seen how good a builder he is -- yet!
