I Still Can't Get SteelRadio. Help! Help! Help!

Post by John Paul Jones »

All I get is a few lines of script.

I've tried everything I've seen posted except a post by b0b that I didn't understand.

When I go to steel radio.com and click on listen, I get this...

[playlist]
NumberOfEntries=6
File1=http://216.175.53.41:8012
Title1=WKRP.FM Variety at its BEST
Length1=-1
Version=2

I don't use win amp and maybe that's why.

But I can get it going if I go here.. http://www.shoutcast.com/directory/?genre=Western and then click on "Tune In".
It starts up RealPlayer which is what I use for that streaming stuff.

Open the WinAmp player first. (If you don't have WinAmp: Click here to get it.)
Then click the link on the SteelRadio.com website. If nothing happens, go to the player and select the file shown and hit play. It's worked for me every time.
Good luck!

When i installed WinAmp it showed up everywhere. You might have an icon on your desktop, or one on your quick-launch bar, or you can find it in the Windows start menu under Programs. You can activate it then minimize the window so it's on the bottom. of your screen out of the way of web page viewing. Hope this helps.

Thanks everyone for you replies and help.

Tim's suggestion to try Shoutcast.com worked (See Tim's reply for the url). I just click on my Winamp icon then the Shoutcast icon that I put on my desktop. Strangely, I have to click on play, though.

So, I can listen, but don't know why or how. Image Image Image

Thanks again.

BTW, Tim. Nice website.

Hi Rich,
Hope that you're doing well. I've never had a problem getting steelradio.com until I tried it tonight. W.K.R.P. comes in just fine but when I click on the "on air" sign for steelradio.com all I get on winamp is a white notice that says 1(connecting)File1=http://216.175.53.41:8012 Just thought I'd let you know.

Neil, i've experienced that recently. What i did was maximize the WinAmp player and clicked the play button. It reloaded and hooked into the server.

Regarding software conflicts, i deleted my WMP. By doing this my WinAmp is now the default. It wasn't until i installed WinAmp was i able to listen to songs at mp3.com. Of course there are media clips that i can't see now, but i find the WinAmp more useful to me.

Neil...Doing great here thanks. I have been gone most of the day but when I checked the station right before pickin tonight everything was working fine. I have not talked to Tim today but I will see if we were down for some reason. Thanks to everyone who is supporting us. It is quite an undertaking but we love what we are doing and hopefully the station can start breaking even so we can keep it going.

I have noticed that when using WINAMP, occasionally it will fail and the message states "no service at this time" reminds me of a cell phone. I have been using the Musicmatch program which has never failed.
Go Figure
