Don, could you send a few palm trees my way? We have 31" of snow in our front yard.

The summer sand is below the snow somewhere. Image

The ears is where ultimately it all is. The ears is what sets the tone that the mind is striving to achieve through the hands, the instrument, and any other link in the sound process. Tone is in the sound and sound is all the steel guitar produces. The ear sets the standard for any sound expected from the instrument and therefore any tone by the instrument.

Tony , Just picking on Don, I remember a show from Hawaii, ( Was it named, Don Ho ?)
that I loved the Lap Hawiian Steel Playing on that Show, And I still remember the, Smell of My first new Square Necked Hawaiian Accoustic Guitar, That new smell has stuck with me, and I tuned it in E Chord, as I already knew the Standard Guitar neck chord fret positions,I thought that Guitar made the most beautiful sound I had ever heard, so could pick out the Chords right away, never had a lesson, even when I graduated to the PSG, always made up my own,Tunes and back up, and copied other tunes By Ear,
So I would have to say it was in my Ears, that I was able to play anything, all my life,
Does that make any sence,?

They say that taste is in the smell, so yes, why not sight being in the sound.

Sight is in your ears. When you look in one ear and you can see out the other ear, that is sight.

If you didn't have ears, your hat would fall down and cover your eyes, so, you see, you couldn't see without your ears....
