When did the album title Memories of Maria change to Satin Strings of Steel. Is this album available on CD?

i suspect the memories of maria album is from early to mid 1962, when that song was a hit single.

the other one is from 1965 or possibly a year later, based on corresponding roy orbison lps released on the same monument label in the same era. the monument label lps that i have do not have issue dates on them.

they contain the same material so i don't know why the reissue rather than just continuing with the original.

some of jerry's monument recordings are on CD, but i am not sure about those specific recordings. most likely not on a US CD.

John, There is new CD on the market by Jerry Byrd. It really isn't new songs - just a bunch of Jerry's songs from various recordings and put on CD. "Jerry Byrd Master of the Steel Guitar", Vol. One "The Monument Years". Memories Of Maria is on it as well as 14 other songs. If you would like more information send me a email and I'll list the songs titles for you. scotty@scottysmusic.com Scotty

he's the inspiration which caused me to love the hawaiin style of playing steel. Thanks to you Jerry Byrd Admirers..Bernie

Cord International obtained the rights to Jerry's Monument LPS I believe from Sony a couple of years ago. It is my understainding that Mike Cord will be releasing a series of three CD's of these old recordings. Vol 1 came out this year. Vol 2 will be forthcoming soon. The CD is available from cordinternational.com.
