Does anyone know whether PF used E9 or C6 on this Dire Straits tune. I have to learn it and can't tell how he's getting those little roll type licks. Hoping it's E9.

Michael, here's Paul Franklin's response to the same question from a few years ago....and here's a link to the topic, in case the tab below doesn't translate well to this response.

Thanks, Paul....while you're here, this post regarding "Calling Elvis" came up a few weeks ago...would you mind showing us how you did it...it's my favorite Dire Straits piece (but really liked pedabro sound on "How Long", too)

Pat, this is the basic pattern.
6__0B__2B(h)_____2B__0B(H)_________________7______________________________2B___0B(H)__8____________2B____________2B______________
*(h)=hammer on/don't pick
*(H)=hammer off/don't pick

Tried to line up the tab a little better. No luck though. [This message was edited by Bobby Boggs on 27 November 2006 at 08:33 PM.] |

On the video 'On The Night,' he played mostly on the back neck, and definitely on Calling Elvis. Rockin' work. |

I checked the tab on the link, and it comes out right. But it looks like E9. With B pedal. |

...the tab Paul gave was for E-9 neck with B pedal, and hammer-ons...
...Bobby, click on the link, Paul's tab on the link makes sense, my copy above doesn't...[This message was edited by Pat Burns on 28 November 2006 at 09:17 AM.] |
