This is so cool, and a real jewel, but all too brief--but then, it would take hours of video just to scratch the surface.

To me, Al Marcus is a genius in many ways, and I've always admired his knowledge about so many things, and especially music. I truly enjoyed Al's playing on this video, and thanks Drew for posting that here for all of us to enjoy. It makes me wish that guys like this would live forever!

Drew Howard is a Genius! I am amzed at what he did with the Video. My playing was secondary to his fine editing and producing this YouTube.

I didn't do very well, one take, no rehearsals, just let it all hang out mistakes and all.

I sure appreciate all the fine comments from my Peers on the Forum. And thank you from the bottom of my heart for your inspiring posts. Just too many to thank individually, but you know I want to thank each and every one of you personally.

David-Not "Lean and Mean" but close to it. Just a plain old E6 (just like C6) tuning with a couple of pulls that I dont usually see on C6 charts.
I like the sound better on E6, for me relates more to E9.
Basically I used p5 and p6 and put p7 on a Knee lever so I didn't have to take my foot off the volume pedal.

Again, Thanks Drew Howard for doing this and such a great job. And Thanks again to all you guys for your kind comments to this old guy. And Thanks to Bobby Lee for this fine Forum....al

Al you have no peers. Beautiful renditions of great songs. I told you to stick with that E6 and someday you'd amount to something.

Now here you've gone and hit the big time with You Tube. And we're the beneficiaries of the results. Great playing my friend and it's not fair that you bring so many good memories of how it used to be. Wish it still was.

Al, wonderful playing. You are one of the originals, taking a dirt road and building the 8-lane highway for us jazz players. You did the hard work and thank you for that.

I hope you havn't quit playing completely and still working on our E6 12 string tuning. Between you and me, we had some pretty good pulls on there.

Jeff-Coming from one of the Greatest Jazz steel players, I have heard. I appreciate your kind words.
I remember hearing your "Christmas Song" and was everwhelmed by it. I had planned to put my version on a CD , but mine was so simple compared to yours that I had better drop it and turn in my picks.

Thanks again to all for your kind comments for this old guy (85 on Dec. 10) .( I can't believe it.)
But still young at heart....al

I am still overwhelmed by the kind comments on Drew's Video. Getting all these nice comments from so many great players on this Forum is really inspiring to me.

Maybe it wil motiivate me to start practicing again and make a CD of all these old tunes of the 40's , 50's etc. Thanks again, I appreciate it...al

I ran across the tribute to Al and I thought what a wonderful life Al has had doing the things that have made him happy.

The ending where you say you've had no complaints was touching.

I am sitting here at my computer with tears in my eyes. Those of us who have known you forever are so happy for you. Thanks to Drew for his time and effort to produce this amazing video.I have heard a lot of utube but this tops them all. The clarity of your music is awesome. It's so great to see the man himself in action. Al Marcus you are a hero to me and many others here. Thanks so much for all your great contributions on the forum.

Some time back I downloaded those old set lists from your website. Whenever I have time and want to learn a new tune - I can just pick one from there and I know it will be a classic and fun to play on the steel.

Jack-Yes , I did have a great time playing all those old songs and even getting paid to do it! What more could I ask? Just pure lucky I guess.
