Pedal steel players..which group are you in?
hello all,
We have some six thousand members in our great Forum.
i have been wondering how many of the members...........
1 regularly post? my guess is about 2%
2 Are full time players? my guess is about 0.1%
3 Have a regular day job and gig with a band 2or3 nights a week? my guess is about 50%
4 Are home only players.my guess is, the other 50%
I fall in to category 3,I gig 2nights each week.
Best regards
Billy

I'm a #1 and a #3. I post here a lot when I should be working LOL, and I play with a Praise and Worship band on Wednesday nights, two services on Sunday morning, and two Sunday nights a month. We also have rehearsals on Thursday nights. Five or six times a year we may play at other functions away from our church.

edit ! I just noticed that this was pedal steel
topic ! I have been Non-ped for the last 8 years
pedals are to heavy for me .
I'm with Gene Jones - # 5 !
but refuse to lay down .
we get 30 to 50 gigs a year ,
the only time I suffer for it ! is
the late night stuff .

I guess that I fall somewhere between groups 3 and 4. I retired from teaching last year. We have a regular comedy/entertainment gig 12-15 times a year (25 years together) , but I play with two other groups on a volunteer basis twice a week at Lifecare and the VA Hospital. Country music from the 40's to the 60's. I started using the Superslide about a year ago, and I've promised the guys that they would see (and hear) pedals in January. Practice, practice. Dennis
