The group I started playing with a couple months ago, is opening for Junior Brown on November 10th ,at the "High Dive Club"in Champaign Illinois.I am a big JB fan for sure.I have seen Junior live once before but to be on the same stage will be a thrill.I am looking foreward to it.I will be playing with Matt Poss and the Wild Bunch. You can check their site out at www.mattposs.com Since I just joined the band they don't have much on there about me yet but you can check out our calander and come see us..Thanks George

We shared a stage with him last year at a private function, and we all went out to listen to his soundcheck, and he did practically his whole set. I dooubt if it was for our benefit, but we definitely appreciated having our own private show. Didn't get to meet him, but did meet the drummer Petey (don't know if he's still with him)who did some amazing things with just a snare and a cymbal.
I know you'll enjoy it!

Arty
(edited to get the drummer's name right)

Juniors longtime drummer is "Petey" and he is the greatest example of "less is more" in percussion that I have ever seen-Usually he just uses a snare and one cymbal-and he only stikes the cymbal one time in the whole set

Minus the annoying drummer, a pretty fine band.
Paul's 'less is more' thot is well pointed in this case.

Success, and enjoy the moment!

I'm looking forward to this show.I'm hoping Junior does his version of "almost to tulsa"He usually plays some of it while Pete does his drum solo..Geo

Petey is indeed a character -- along with being one of the best percussionists I ever heard -- no matter HOW MANY DRUMS.

He told me that he prefers a kit he can just drag out the door in one trip -- just in case the cops (or maybe someone's husband -- in his younger days) showed up.

I assumed that Jr must have insisted on the one drum thing but Pete told me that Jr had no problem with him playing a full set -- the simple setup was his own preference.

It's a fun show.

I opened up for Junior Brown once about 5 yrs ago at The Coach House in San Juan Capistrano, CA along with Kevin Banford and The Bakersfield Boys with Gary Brandin steelin. I had a lap steel player in my band and got really great compliments from Stoney Burke, who happened to be in the crowd that night.

It was a fun gig. Junior wasn't much of a talker though. Petey can sure bang away at the snare! That was a treat to see.
